Things are about to get NUTTY

Good morning pals! Hope your summer has been nice and your gardens runneth over!

I am sharing this in my newsletter as well, so here is the requisite apology if you get two copies (but thank you so much for subscribing to both, you absolute legend)!

We are but a mere 10 days away from the Winnipeg 150 Outdoor Market at The Forks and I am super stoked for it! I’d be stoked regardless, but on this particular day I am extra stoked because I have new art to share with you!

My dear friend Nyco Rudolph is a fellow artist in the city who also specializes in “Vintage Canadiana” but where I lean toward old tourism and landscape posters with mild art deco vibes, he rocks the old movie and wartime propaganda posters with a silly twist (usually bears). Needless to say, he’s a good friend and a very talented artist whose work I have admired for ages (I have three prints hanging in my upstairs hallway, and another in my office lol). So when he contacted me about a working together on a poster when the iconic Nutty Club building was shuttered here in Winnipeg, I was like “I can start tomorrow.” (okay it took us 6 months to find the time but the will was there)

BEHOLD!

Lemme tell ya, it was a dream colouring those inks. So much fun.

We’re debuting it as limited edition 12″x18″ prints, numbered and signed by both of us, at our upcoming markets this month! The signed copies will ONLY be available in person, but if you can’t make it out, don’t worry. We’ll have some 8″x10″ copies online and in shops shortly afterward.

You can catch me at The Forks from 10am-9pm on July 27, 2024 to nab your signed copy!!!

The Village Pop-up Art Hub put on by Osborne Village Biz is renewed for another month!! It’s at 120 Osborne St. until mid-August now, and you can find a selection of my prints and stickers there along with the few pieces of pottery I have available, as well as a bunch of really great art from some other local artists!

It is open 12-6 every weekday, and 12-5 on Saturdays.

Also, in case you missed it last month:

I’m doing School Photo Day caricatures again on July 25 from 11:30AM-1PM in the Richardson Plaza!

Also, you’re not limited to just people. I’ll draw your pet, too! (In fact I’d actually prefer it. I’m sure your face is lovely but I’d rather draw your cat, no offense. I’m sure you understand.)

In other news, I have some new stickers coming in soon, and I am slowly working on some ideas for new Winnipeg and Manitoba-themed prints because it’s been a minute since I dropped one. BUT in the meantime, I learned how to make ZINES! Teeny tiny little comic books I can just print at home! I’m gonna have a couple of them at my table too, just for laughs. They’re small and silly but hey they’re also cheap and fun. The quadrifecta!

I only have one at the moment, but it is a little collection of drawings based on all the sandwiches my partner and I have served each other over the years, particularly when we’re feeling ill or tired or depressed.

I’ll probably be tossing a few of these puppies online as well–I’ll let you know when I do! Also, I’m really trying hard to get subscribers here, so I think I may be doing a giveaway soon… stay tuned for that!

Okay! Go to the beach! Have fun! Be merry! Catch a fish! See you SOON

I love to share my art and comics, and I’m extremely blessed to be able to do it full-time as a career, in part due to readers like you! If you would like to support my work, please consider sharing with a friend, nabbing a print, buying me a coffee, or subscribing to my Patreon for as little as $1 a month
